Wednesdays Alive at Seymour

Food, fellowship, and fun times.

WAS stands for Wednesdays Alive at Seymour

Wednesdays Alive at Seymour began in 1990 as a way to provide opportunities for fellowship and spiritual growth for all age groups at Seymour Church. It is a series of 15 suppers scheduled for every other Wednesday during the school year. There are breaks in the schedule during the holidays. The final WAS supper is a fundraiser for our Youth Group.

The meal begins promptly at 5:30pm and will close in prayer at 6:15pm. A simple, delicious meal is served family style in the big fellowship room downstairs. The dinner includes coffee or milk, and dessert. There are highchairs available for little ones. Parents, please keep your children with you at the table until they are dismissed at 6:15pm.

Meals will be offered FREE of charge to all who come, which includes both Seymour members and friends of the community.

After the meal, while the Cadets and GEMS enjoy worship in the sanctuary at 6:15pm, tables are cleared, chairs are stored, room is vacuumed and the leftovers packed up for benevolence meals, all before the GEMS return downstairs for small groups and crafts.  Everyone helps by taking care of their own dishes, food and trash and by helping to put away tables and chairs.  If your Seymour zone is on duty, stay and help them finish up before leaving the basement.

A nursery is provided at no charge for children too young to go to the kids’ programs.  It is staffed by 2-3 high school students or adults. Parents are encouraged to use the nursery and enjoy the fellowship and programs of the evening.

Several ministries are provided for children in Pre-K and older, including Kingdom Kids, GEMS and Cadets.  All of our children’s ministries and nursery volunteers are back ground checked. The GEMS meet in the sanctuary for their opening praise and worship time until 6:30pm and then go to their respective rooms.  Anyone is welcome to join them for opening worship in the sanctuary.

You are welcome to join our adult class or other activities which begin 6:30pm and end at 7:45pm like the children’s programs. See back page for current adult options. Although we would enjoy your company for supper, you do not need to attend the supper to come to the classes or groups.
