Take Two Hygiene Pantry

Take Two hygiene pantry at Seymour Church helps those in need take care of their personal and family hygiene through generosity and dignity.

Currently we run a hygiene pantry for the Greater Grand Rapids area. We also provide emergency period packs to Alger Middle School, Ottawa Hills High School, Grand Rapids Christian High School, and South Christian High School.

Our pantry is open on the third Tuesday of each month from 4-6pm. Please click on “make a request” below for more information.

What does “Take Two” mean?

“Take Two” is a play on words that is intended to express generosity and dignity:

  • Generosity: Rather than taking a single item (like at most hygiene pantries), take two.
  • Dignity: We all need a second chance. Take Two hopes to provide an opportunity for anyone, regardless of circumstances, to have a “second take.”

What’s the story behind Take Two?

A member at Seymour started Take Two as a personal passion project. As someone who grew up without regular access to necessary hygiene items, she felt called to help those in the community who also struggle with meeting this need.

Who’s responsible for Take Two?

Take Two is run by a Seymour Youth Council, which includes several high school students representing 4 different high schools in Grand Rapids.

What are some future goals?

We are currently in discussion with several groups, churches, and businesses about placing 24/7 outdoor bins at their locations as well as working to secure other locations in the greater Grand Rapids area. If your business would like to support, donate or provide an area for Take Two, please contact us at 616-245-8726 or taketwo@seymourchurch.org.

How can I make a request for pantry items?

You can make a request several ways:

All requests for assistance will be kept strictly confidential and be handled with extreme sensitivity. Take Two serves the Alger Heights and Garfield Park neighborhoods (as defined by the City of Grand Rapids boundaries) as well as those in surrounding communities who are in need.

Please note: We do not carry medicine or any health/wellness products, bulk items that aren’t individually wrapped, food, paper products, or expired items.
