Children’s Ministry Director Search

Seymour Church is searching for a Children’s Ministry director to partner in nurturing the growing faith of our children.

The Director of Children’s Ministries will provide leadership and support to the Seymour Kids ministries (nursery to 6th grade), grounded in a love for Jesus Christ and a passion for children’s ministry. Partnering with volunteers, leaders, and staff, the CM Director will work to equip our children with foundational truths and disciplines so that God’s vision for them can grow and guide their lives. This is a part-time (15-20 hour/week) position.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. General
    • Provide pastoral leadership and care for Seymour Church’s children.
    • Build positive, healthy, and affirming relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and encourage volunteer leadership in the children’s ministries.
    • Meet regularly with Children’s Ministry leaders and volunteers, working to establish a team environment of support and mutual encouragement.
  2. Sunday Morning Ministries
    • Plan and provide primary vision and leadership for Sunday morning children’s ministries: nursery, Children’s Worship (preK-1 grade), and Lightseekers (2-6 grade).
    • Prepare lessons, oversee selection of curricula, and organize volunteers for each ministry.
  3. Mid-Week Programs and Special Events
    • Provide support for mid-week children’s ministry programs (Kingdom Kids, GEMS, Cadets) by serving as a liaison between staff and volunteer ministry leaders.
    • Lead, delegate, and recruit volunteers for special events (for example: Trunk-or-Treat)
  4. Administrative
    • Meet weekly with Ministry Staff and the Lead Pastor for supervision and encouragement.
    • Prepare the annual budget for the Children’s Ministry.
    • Work with the Council and Lead Pastor to regularly review the Seymour Abuse Prevention Guidelines.

Qualifications

  • An authentic, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Gifts in sharing the love of Christ and communicating the gospel to children
  • Ability to work well in the context of a team ministry setting.
  • Strong organizational skills to mobilize teams and to lead events and activities.
  • Affirm Reformed theology and church polity.

Compensation

The Director of Children’s Ministries is a part-time position, requiring approximately 15-20 hours/week. Compensation begins at $1200/mo, but will be commensurate with experience.

Accountability

The Director of Children’s Ministries is directly responsible and accountable to the Pastor of Worship and Administration (Lead Pastor) and ultimately to the Council.
